It’s not hard to understand Alabama Democrats’ delight with the May 19 results.

Team Blue increased its share of the total primary vote to its highest number since 2006 (the last time Democrats led voting in any Alabama primary). Democrats got good turnout in Jefferson and Montgomery counties and the Black Belt, their core regions. Even better for the party, Democrats took a majority of the ballots in Madison, Mobile and Tuscaloosa counties.
