The Alabama House of Representatives approved legislation on Tuesday that prohibits foreign nationals from making political contributions.

HB 214, sponsored by Rep. James Lomax, R-Huntsville, bans immigrants without legal status from contributing money to political campaigns, ballot measures, political parties and political campaign committees. The bill also prohibits foreign governments, political parties and most foreign businesses from making campaign contributions.
