An Alabama House committee Wednesday approved a bill that would create a scholarship program for families of law enforcement officers.

HB 98, sponsored by Rep. Allen Treadaway, R-Morris, would create the Alabama Law Enforcement Officers’ Family Scholarship Program. The scholarship can be used by families of law enforcement officers for technical schools, colleges and universities.

The Alabama Commission on Higher Education (ACHE) would administer the scholarship. Awards would be capped at $3,000 per academic …
