The Alabama House of Representatives Thursday passed a bill that would create a body to revise the K-12 accountability system in public schools.

HB 604, sponsored by Rep. Terri Collins, R-Decatur, would establish a 24-member standing Accountability Council before July 1 to ensure that the accountability measures – such as academic achievement, academic growth, English language proficiency progress, chronic absenteeism, college career readiness and graduation rate – support improved outcomes for students.
