The Alabama House of Representatives Tuesday passed a bill that would make it harder for defendants to invoke self-defense in court cases if if they disposed of the weapon involved in the incident.

HB 192, sponsored by Rep. David Faulkner, R-Mountain Brook, adds to a list of circumstances that prevent people charged with a crime from claiming legally justified self-defense. Faulkner said state district attorneys brought the issue to him.
