The Alabama House of Representatives Tuesday passed a bill that would create a new sales tax holiday.

HB 360, sponsored by Rep. Chris Sells, R-Greenville, establishes a Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday for the last weekend in August.

“As crime increases, people want protection,” Sells said in the House chamber. “You probably have [owned] a weapon for protection at some point, and this allows people to buy that with reduced taxes.”
