Five candidates want to represent a Jacksonville-area Alabama House district. And that’s actually a smaller field than the last contest.

In 2022, seven candidates ran in Alabama House District 40. This year, incumbent Rep. Chad Robertson, R-Heflin, faces three Republican challengers and one Democrat in the race to represent the district, which covers parts of Calhoun and Cleburne counties.
