The Alabama House of Representatives Tuesday passed a bill that would allow the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles to use sanctions other than parole revocations for certain violations.

SB 254, sponsored by Sen. Sam Givhan, R-Huntsville, allows the parole board to reinstate parole for people if they are charged with a crime that is later dismissed; are acquitted at trial or the sentence results in a criminal violation or misdemeanor.
