The Alabama Senate Tuesday passed a bill that would allow county and city governments to terminate the members of local library boards.

SB 26, sponsored by Sen. Chris Elliott, R-Josephine, would allow the local governing body, like a county commission or city council, who appoint members of the library board to remove them with a two-thirds majority vote. The bill passed 25-6 with one abstention.
