The Alabama Senate passed a bill Tuesday that would require all health benefit plans to cover breast cancer screenings for women over 40 years old.

SB 177, sponsored by Sen. Linda Coleman-Madison, D-Birmingham, requires all health benefit plans to align with all other Alabama health insurance plans and the federal Affordable Care Act coverage for mammograms and diagnostic imaging of abnormalities.
