An Alabama Senate committee Tuesday approved legislation that would make it a crime to fly a drone near a concert or a sporting event without permission from organizers.

HB 429, sponsored by Rep. Neil Rafferty, D-Birmingham, makes it illegal to operate an unmanned aircraft system within or above 400 feet of a ticketed entertainment event.
