The Alabama Senate passed a bill Thursday that would require app stores to have age verification for minors.

HB 161, sponsored by Rep. Chris Sells, R-Greenville, requires app store providers to take action regarding age verification, parental notification and data protection. The bill passed 35-0 with an amendment that ensured the age restrictions did not interfere with any other age restricting state laws.
