The Louisiana Legislature has approved a bill to combat college hazing by increasing penalties, training and reporting requirements for schools and campus organizations.

House Bill 636, authored by Rep. Vanessa LaFleur, D-Baton Rouge, is known as the Caleb Wilson Hazing Prevention Act. The measure is named for the 20-year-old Southern University student who died in a hazing incident last year.
