Arizona now ranks one place away from dead last in the country for spending on public school students.

This week, the National Education Association released its annual report on public school spending and teacher pay. The worst state for per-pupil funding was Tennessee, with just $11,723 spent on K-12 public school students during the 2024-2025 academic year. But the Grand Canyon State isn’t far behind, ranked 49th and spending an estimated $11,987 per-student.
