Democrats’ warnings about looming federal funding cuts and unmet needs didn’t dissuade the predominantly-Republican Arkansas House and Senate Tuesday from overwhelmingly advancing income tax cuts.

Lawmakers on Wednesday are expected to give final approval to separate but identical bills outlining the cuts proposed by Republican Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders. The governor called a special session that began Monday focused solely on the cuts.
