The leader of the Alabama Senate declared a bill that would have ended popular elections for members of the state public utility regulator “dead” on Wednesday.

Senate President Pro Tem Garlan Gudger, R-Cullman, said at the end of the Senate’s meeting that the bill, HB 392, sponsored by Rep. Chip Brown, R-Hollinger’s Island, “moved too fast and addressed the issue too narrowly.”
