Maryland legislation to ban agreements between local law enforcement agencies and federal immigration authorities, specifically Immigration and Customs Enforcement, could be on Gov. Wes Moore’s desk by next week.

The House Judiciary Committee voted 11-5 Friday to advance Senate Bill 245, sponsored by Sen. William C. Smith Jr. (D-Montgomery), just three days after it sailed through the Senate on a 32-12 vote.
