Attorney General Aaron Frey broke with state Democratic leaders last week when he filed a brief before the Maine Supreme Judicial Court opposing a proposed expansion of ranked-choice voting.

The Legislature last month asked the court to issue an advisory opinion on LD 1666, which would expand the voting method to special and general elections for governor, state senator or state representative.
