During National STI Awareness Week, the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) had some good news to share: An assortment of sexually transmitted infections seem to be entering a period of decline after years of upward movement.

The most promising downward trend can be found in chlamydia, which dropped to 4,681 cases in 2024 — the lowest since 2015, and a marked difference from the peak of 5,717 cases documented in 2019. …
