Almost two-thirds of lawmakers seeking reelection in the Rhode Island General Assembly were unopposed as of Wednesday’s 4 p.m. deadline to file declaration of candidacy forms for the 2026 primary and general elections.

Of the 75 members of the House of Representatives, only 22 faced potential challengers while nine were not seeking reelection.

In the upper chamber, all 38 senators filed to run for reelection. Only 13 have an opponent.
