The majority of lawmakers on the Judiciary Committee on Thursday rejected two Republican-led proposals to overturn recently passed gun safety laws in Maine.

One measure sought to repeal the state’s three-day waiting period for gun purchases, which took effect last August. The other, from Rep. Quentin Chapman (R-Auburn), was significantly amended at the last minute to roll back the red flag law that voters overwhelmingly approved in November.
