OLYMPIA — The Washington State Legislature’s proposed budgets would address urgent needs in the Walla Walla area, but District 16 legislators and their fellow Republicans have expressed dismay at cuts to education.

State lawmakers are hammering out the supplemental budget, which amends the biennial budget that passed last year and runs through June 30, 2027. The short legislative session ends Thursday, March 12.
