Rhode Island Department of Education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green is asking the state’s K-12 council to reduce the school year by two days to cope with school closures resulting from the historic February blizzard.

At its Tuesday night meeting, the Council on Elementary and Secondary Education is set to discuss and vote on Infante-Green’s request for an emergency waiver that would cut this school year from 180 days to 178 days.
