Last month, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin announced that the agencies were taking “bold” and “historic” action to address the growing microplastics crisis. However, without coupling their announced plan to add microplastics to the contaminant priority list with the more meaningful measure of monitoring, their words will ring hollow.
