The attorneys for former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder are open to taking a plea deal to avoid his state corruption trial in Cuyahoga County this summer.

Householder has maintained his innocence since his indictment in 2020, arguing that the $61 million the government said he took to give FirstEnergy a billion-dollar bailout was political, not criminal.

From then on, even after he was convicted in federal court, he said he would fight all accusations.
