GREENLAND — Former University of New Hampshire police chief Steven Lee, arrested in January for driving under the influence in Portsmouth, has been hired as a police captain in Greenland.

The town’s Board of Selectmen voted to approve Lee’s appointment in a late June non-public session.

Lee, sworn in Thursday, July 9, is now the Greenland Police Department’s first-ever captain, ranking second-in-command to Chief Wayne Bertogli, according to Town Administrator Tara Tucker.
