HAMPTON — Chase Perault woke up from his induced coma and immediately grabbed a pen to write down in large letters his girlfriend’s name, according to his father, Robert Perault.

“I said she’s fine," Robert said. "Then he said (in writing), ‘D-I-E-D.’ I said, 'no she’s fine.'"
