PLAISTOW — Serving more than two decades in the department, a once-dispatcher, officer and then interim chief will now be at the helm of the town’s police force.

Applause rang out at Town Hall as Jason Mazza was officially sworn in as Plaistow’s chief of police during Monday’s Board of Selectmen meeting. He was surrounded by family, friends and fellow officers who came to witness the long-awaited promotion.
