The Iowa House advanced bills Monday related to electric transmission line construction, emergency planning and land restoration.

The first of the three, House File 2227, requires transmission line owners to repair agricultural land, including drainage tile structures, cover crops or other vegetation and impacted soil following construction.

The Iowa Utilities Commission, under the bill, would oversee enforcement of the restoration and could impose civil penalties if transmission operators don’t comply.
