John Wahl, the former chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, won the Republican primary runoff for lieutenant governor Tuesday night, defeating Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen.

As of 9:09 p.m., Wahl had 114,604 votes (57.8%) and Allen had 83,807 votes (42.2%) in unofficial returns.

Multiple messages seeking comment was left with Wahl Tuesday night. Wahl will face Democratic nominee Phillip Ensler, a state representative from Montgomery, in the fall.
