Chambers County Republican Party Chairwoman Kristi Nelson won the House District 38 special election Tuesday night, defeating Democratic nominee Hazel Floyd.

As of 9:24 p.m., Nelson had 1,860 votes (84.74%) in unofficial returns. Floyd had 331 votes (15.08%). The Alabama Secretary of State office reported a 5.73% voter turnout with a total of 2,195 votes counted.
