A small — but growing — number of Iowans are choosing not to vaccinate their kids against infectious diseases. One Des Moines-based nurse practitioner recently noted that “there’s more hesitancy this year than I’ve ever seen in the 20 years I’ve practiced.”

As a Republican leader, I believe the choice of whether to vaccinate ought to be left to parents, not the government.
