Beginning Friday, workers across Maine will be able to access paid family and medical leave in the case of illness, a new child, or to care for a loved one.

The program was established by the Maine Legislature in 2023, making Maine the 14th state to offer such benefits, and will allow eligible public and private sector workers to take up to 12 weeks of paid time off.
