While firm details are scarce, Michigan’s respective legislative leaders and the state’s budget office signaled Tuesday that they have a framework for a deal on the 2026-27 fiscal year budget.

An agreement was not far off, House Speaker Matt Hall (R-Richland Township) said during a press conference, indicating that if the deal was agreed to Tuesday, it would allow the House and Senate appropriations committees to set departmental spending targets.
