Michigan’s top statewide elected officials — Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Attorney General Dana Nessel and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, all Democrats — each released statements condemning a new executive order signed Tuesday by President Donald Trump taking aim at mail-in ballots.

Benson, who is also a Democratic candidate for governor in 2026, said on Tuesday night that she would fight the order in court, calling it “illegal on its face.”
