The Montana Public Service Commission has not paid a specialty law firm it hired at $700 an hour, and one commissioner is concerned the $25,000 invoice is languishing.

In November, the Public Service Commission voted to hire outside counsel for as much as $25,000 to intervene in a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission case.

The case involves the way a NorthWestern Energy subsidiary is handling shares it acquired last month from Puget Sound Energy.
