I am one of the very few living Iowans who had to vote in Congress whether the country should go to war or not.

The resolution came before the House and Senate in January 1991 in response to Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait. Hussein seized Kuwait’s wealth and then imposed martial law. President George H.W. Bush organized a coalition of 42 countries to drive them out with military force.
