A New Mexico Public Education Department program that pays high school students experiencing homelessness to attend school is showing early positive results, according to officials.

Participating students in the Guaranteed Payment for Attendance Program receive a monthly $500 stipend to help address basic needs that interfere with attendance, as well as provide academic coaching, attendance monitoring and emotional support.
