SALEM, N.H. — Views of suburban sprawl and a ride on choppy gravel may be replaced with shade trees, benches and a paved path.

Next week, officials will present the next phase in a more than decade-long endeavor to pave the roughly five-mile Salem Rail Trail. Federal and private funding will be used to upgrade the section that travels from Rockingham Park Boulevard to Main Street, adjacent to Tuscan Village.
