New Mexico’s Health Care Authority on Wednesday provided new information about how it intends to protect nutritional assistance for thousands of immigrants who lost federal food benefits in the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” Congress enacted last year.

About 20,000 immigrants in New Mexico are projected to lose federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits this year. They are refugees, asylees or others allowed United States entry for humanitarian reasons, according to the authority.
