U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) on Monday announced he would vote against former New Mexico Congressman Steve Pearce to run the federal Bureau of Land Management.

President Donald Trump in November nominated Pearce, a Republican who represented New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District from 2011 to 2019, to lead the BLM, which oversees 245 million acres of public lands, including about 13 million in New Mexico.
