MISSOULA — NorthWestern Energy earned praise for its blue-collar workers and its reliability — but not much else — at a meeting it hosted about the future of electricity in Montana.

At the public meeting in Missoula, Andrew Wilcox, a professor of geosciences at the University of Montana, said the monopoly utility did an “outstanding” job with reliability.
