An Alabama House committee Wednesday advanced a bill that would increase insurance protections and extend time off for living organ donors.

HB 361, sponsored by House Minority Leader Anthony Daniels, D-Huntsville, would require public employers to grant a leave of absence to employees who donate organs; provide a tax credit up to $2,000 to private employers who grant leave of absences for organ donors and prohibit insurance companies from discriminating against donors.
