The number of drug overdose deaths in Minnesota remained the same from 2024 to 2025, indicating that improvements over the past two years are slowing down, according to preliminary numbers from the Minnesota Department of Health.

The agency reported 994 provisional and confirmed overdose deaths in 2025, the same number as 2024. The figure is still a 28% drop from the 2022 peak and lower than overdose deaths in 2020.
