Clickety clack. The great railroad merger of 2025 was highballing full throttle to the station, much to the delight of its supporters.

Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern would combine to become one railroad company.

The historic deal had been approved by shareholders of both companies. On Dec. 19, Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern filed a joint application to federal regulators at the U.S. Surface Transportation Board.
