Port Townsend’s police department had reason to celebrate last month.

The department received accreditation through the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs on May 13 — one of four agencies to receive accreditation during the organization’s spring conference in Spokane. The award was celebrated again on May 30 during the department’s banquet, where employees nominated their peers for their contributions to the team.
