Port Townsend’s annual professional performance evaluation of City Manager John Mauro is underway.

The months-long process, managed by Cynthia Shaffer, the city’s people and performance director, involves feedback from council members and several closed-door, executive sessions.

According to Mauro’s employment contract, the results of the evaluation directly correlate to his salary, which may be increased annually.

“Increased compensation can be in the form of a salary increase and/or an increase in benefits,” his contract reads.
