The Reformer recently reported that overdose deaths from fentanyl continue to decline after hitting a high of 1,016 in the year that ended in June 2023. On one hand, the progress is a relief after years of devastating increases. On the other, it is a sobering reminder: fentanyl continues to claim thousands of lives, and “not getting worse” is not the same as making meaningful progress.
