A bill that would change the evaluation of Alabama’s public schools drew opposition from some legislators and school superintendents last week.

HB 396, sponsored by Rep. Terri Collins, R-Decatur, would change the performance indicators for schools to include learning gains of the lowest performing 25% of students and include separate consideration for grading based on if the school has a 12th grade class or not.
