Lease negotiations between the Port of Columbia and the company that operates the Port’s railroad continue, albeit slowly.

Last year, Columbia Rail’s yearslong effort to buy the 37-mile line between Dayton and Walla Walla ended without a sale, mere months before the company’s lease was set to expire at the end of December. The lease has since switched to month-to-month.
